Mystic, CT - Daisy Florence McKenna, 90, of Mystic, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, at Mystic Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center where she had been a resident for some time.
Daisy was born July 5, 1918, in Botwood, Newfoundland, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Annie (Foss) Chaulk.

Daisy married Patrick McKenna in East Hampton, N.Y., on April 14, 1937. They had been married 51 years when he passed away in 1988.

A long time resident of the area, Daisy was active in the community. She was a member of the Quiambaug Fire Department Auxiliary and the Mystic Order of the Rebecca's. Daisy retired from the Edward Weck Division of Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co. after many years of service. In her retirement, she took pleasure in her circle of lady friends with whom she enjoyed lunch outings and their sewing club.

Daisy is survived by her daughter, Helen M. Reid of East Lyme; her son, Patrick J. McKenna and his wife, Rita, of Clinton; her brothers, Douglas M. Chaulk of Lady Lake, Fla.; a sister, Grace Pavelski of Mystic; four grandchildren, Susan Reid of Ledyard, Barbara Reid Kraemer and her husband, Gary, of Massachusetts, Richard McKenna of Canton, Mark McKenna of Columbus, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Mark McKenna Jr. of Georgia, Corinne and Lauren Kraemer of Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her brother, Kenneth G. Chaulk of Colorado Springs, Colo.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, 51 Williams Ave., Mystic. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Daisy's memory may be made to the Patient Recreation Fund, c/o Mystic Manor Nursing Center, 475 High St., Mystic CT 06355 or to Beacon Hospice, 12 Roosevelt Ave. # 7, Mystic CT 06355.
