Charles was the 7th of 9 children of Edwin Thomas Rendle & Rosina Kinsman

OBITUARY - Mr C. A. Rendle

The death has occurred, while on holiday at Owhanga, of Mr Charles Arthur Rendle, of Martin Street, Upper Hutt, headmaster of Upper Hutt School since February 1927. The late Mr Rendle, who was born in 1887, was head teacher at Owaka District High School, Otago, before taking up his appointment at Upper Hutt and had previously been in the service of the Wellington Education Board as an assistant at Waiwhetu and Muritai Schools.
He was a bowler of championship class and was, in fact, four time Wellington Centre champion. He had also competed at New Zealand tourneys. Not only in sport and education had Mr Rendle taken a prominent part, During his stay at Muritai he was a member of the Eastbourne Borough Council and on moving to Upper Hutt he was elected to the council of that borough, serving for six years. At the last municipal; elections he offered his services as Mayor, but was unsuccessful. Mr Rendle is survived by his wife, a daughter, Miss B. Rendle and three sons, Messrs R., Mr A. and T. Rendle, the last-named being overseas. He was 56 years of age.

The death has occurred of Mr C. A. Rendle, headmaster of the Upper Hutt Primary School. He was a well-known bowler and competed in many Wellington centre championships. He was four times champion, requiring only one more win to qualify for the centre's gold medal. He also competed at New Zealand championships. He was a borough councillor in Eastbourne from 1931 to 1933 and at Upper Hutt for six years. Mr Rendle died suddenly at Owhanga and was buried to-day at Woodville. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and three sons,
