Judge L. L. Frost, a pioneer citizen of Caldwell Co, passed away Saturday, January 11, 8pm at St. Joseph MO. The body was taken to the Houghton Funeral Home, Hamilton, where it remained until January 12, and was then taken to his old home at Mirabile.

Funeral services were held at the Community Church at 1:30pm Monday, January 13. Rev. Barksdale, the pastor, delivered the sermon. Interment was in the Mirabile Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers, selected from the lifetime friends were S. McMaster, E. L. Bowman, L. Bridgewater, William Sturgis, J. B. Sloan and G. W. Sackman.

Active pallbearers were selected from the student body of the high school, A. Karr, H. Pollard, E. Elliott, G. Richardson, B.Virtue and K. Woods acting. The school board and the student body sent beautiful floral pieces in appreciation of the services which the Judge had rendered the school during his lifetime. The spot where the high school building stands was donated the district by him. He was firm believer in education and did everything in his power to help those who were seeking an education. His own education was meager but by fairness, he built a large business in Caldwell county and was president of the National Association for many years. The following obit was read at the services.

Lyman L. Frost was born near Covington PA, Tioga Co, on January 8, 1848, and departed this life at Dr. Wooderson's hospital near St. Joseph on January 11, 1930, age 82 years and 8 days. His young manhood was spent near his birthplace, removing to Missouri with his parents in 1868. They located on the farm where he spent 47 years of active life. During this time he served in serveral offices of public trust, always faithfully fulfilling the duties of his office. 17 years ago, the Judge retired from active farm life and moved to Mirabile, the place which has since been the family home.

In early manhood, he united with the Christian Church near Covington PA, and after moving to Missouri, was a member of the Christian Church in Mirabile as long as that body existed and when the Community Church was organized, he placed his membership here and attended services as long as his health would permit.

On December 28, 1869, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Jane Allen who preceeded him to the other world on Nov. 30, 1920. To this union 6 children were born, 4 sons, 2 daughters, George H. dying in infancy: S. D. and B. H. Frost, Mrs. Sarah Sackman, Mrs. Alice Arey, who live near the home, and I. A. Frost of Hamilton, together with 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nephewes and nieces scattered over the United States survive.

The Judge was a loved father in his home, a friend to the needy and a counselor to those who sought his advice. He was upright and honorable in all his dealings and his life was without reproach.
