James G. Earnest Dies; Ex-Loan Firm Official

James Gifford Earnest, 75, of 900 West Franklin st., a retired vice president and director of First Federal Savings and Loan Association here, died Monday.

Mr. Earnest, a senior member of the firm of Earnest Brothers Builders Supply for many years, was a former president of the Virginia Builders Exchange and a former executive secretary of the Virginia Brick Association and Virginia Mineral Aggregate Association.
He was a charter member and former president of the Richmond Kiwanis Club and a member of the Elks Club and American Legion.

Mr. Earnest, a former member of the Richmond Light Infantry Blues and a veteran of World War I, was a retired lieutenant colonel in the reserves.

Surviving are a son, Capt. Albert Kyle Earnest, USN; two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Collins and Mrs. Etta E. Grigg, both of Richmond, and a brother Maj. Gen. Herbert L. Earnest (ret.) of White Stone.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete last night.
