Funeral services for Nils Muus well-known banker and civic leader were held from Trinity Lutheran church at Floodwood, Minnesota on Friday, August 8th following a short service at the Muus home. The Rev. Orrin P. Sheggeby, pastor of the congregation, officiated, with J. Nygaard, a citizen of the community and a member of the church, speaking a few words in appreciation and memoriam.
A vocal duet, "I Himlen's Lyse Sal" was rendered in the Norwegian language at the church by special request, and a quartette number was also given. The pallbearers were N.A.Stageberg, O.R.Bolstad, J.Nygaard, H.Gohl, John Raihala and John Tweit.

The Rev. Sheggeby used as his text John 14:21, and gave the following obituary: Nils Muus was born in Kenyon, Minnesota, January 7, 1863, the first son of the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. B.J.Muus. There he spent the days of his youth and was a student of Luther College, Decorah, Iowa. He married Josephine Sortedahl May 31, 1886. They made their home at Fertile, Minnesota, and later at Crookston, where Mr. Muus served a term as clerk of court for Polk county. He was also engaged in the general merchandise business. In 1904 he entered the banking business at Neilsville and later at Littlefork. In 1921 he moved to Floodwood, where he was president of the First State Bank of Floodwood until the time of his death August 2 at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 25 days.

Mr. Muus was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran church having served as treasurer for several years. He leaves his widow, nine children, and eight grandchildren -- Elizabeth and Helga at home; Olava at Minneapolis; Thrine of Rockford, Ill; Mrs. Oliver Martinson, Atlantic, Iowa; Mrs. Dr. J.G. Vigeland, Brinsmade, N.D.; B.J. Muus, Floodwood; Jen Muus, Shotley, Minnesota; and the Rev. Herman Muus, St. James; also one brother Harold, in Petaluma, Cal. and one sister Birgitte, in Oslo, Norway.
All the children and their families were present at the funeral, as were a foster daughter Lillian Hoffren of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. G.E.Krueger, Plummer, Minn.; M.O.Sortedahl, brother of Mrs. Muus, and Myrtle and Ralph, Red Lake Falls, Minn.; Olof Sortedahl of Duluth and Mrs. Lars Holmberg and daughter Ovida of Minneapolis.
The body was taken to Duluth to be forwarded to Kenyon where funeral services were held from the Holden church Saturday, August 6, with the Rev. Orrin P. Sheggeby and the Rev. S.O. Simundson officating. Burial was in the family lot in Kenyon.
