Curtis, Natasha Edwinna 8 9/16/2000 3/31/2009 Natasha "Nachie" Curtis, 8, passed away peacefully at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, surrounded by family and friends, due to complications of a bone marrow transplant following her five-year battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Natasha was born Sept. 16, 2000, in Clackamas. She attended Woodmere Elementary School and loved going to school when she was able. In 2008, she was honored with a "Hero's Award" from the Children's Cancer Association. Natasha loved her family, friends, Nintendo DS, animals (especially pets), Webkinz, singing, dancing, favorite foods, warm blankets, cartoons and movies. Her family is thankful for the doctors, nurses and staff at Doernbecher's who took excellent care of her. They are equally thankful for the Team in Training members who trained relentlessly and participated in triathlons on Natasha's behalf, raising funds in hopes of one day finding a cure for her. Natasha's life was celebrated on Friday, April 3, 2009, in Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment was held in Gethsemani Cemetery. She is survived by her mother, Tami Curtis; father, Simon Lopez; sisters, Lorena Curtis, Marissa Jaramillo-Curtis and Olivia Menchaca Curtis; grandparents, Bill and Rena Curtis; uncle, Jerry Curtis; aunt, Tina Curtis; cousin, Kayla Curtis; chemo pal, Shannon Flanagan; and numerous extended family members. Natasha touched many hearts and she will be missed terribly by all who were blessed to know her. Contributions to help cover funeral expenses may be mailed to Kai Perm, 500 N.E. Multnomah St., Suite 320, Portland, OR 97232. Make checks payable to Rena Curtis for Natasha Curtis and note member #4237007 on check.
