Born to Harry Moses Baine and Dellena McConnell. A half-sister by his father's previous marriage was Alma Frances Baine, whose mother died a year or so before Harry Moses Junior was born. A full sibling born to Dellena also was Dellena Baine, born about 1921.

In 1920 Harry Junior was living in a hotel in Des Moines, Iowa. Neither of his parents were living with him, as per his 1920 Census, and it appears he may have been a ward of a nurse by the name of Gayle Hardy. His father and Dellena, in 1920, were also living in Des Moines, but at another residence and with Alma Frances Baine, daughter of Harry Senior and Alma Griffith Baine.

In 1930 Harry Junior was living in Los Angeles at the residence of Mary A. Brown, tutor, along with his full sibling Dellena and half-sibling Alma Frances Baine.

On 20 Sep 1940 Harry Junior enlisted in the Costal Artillery Corps at Fort McDowell on Angel Island in Los Angeles, California. He had one year of high school, no dependents, stood 5ft. 9in. and weighted 265 pounds.

The 1940 Census found Harry a soldier in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Harry was a member of the 60th Coastal Artillery when he was taken as a prisoner of war in May 1942 on Corregidor during the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. He spent time at the Cabanatuan POW Camp in the Philippines before he was placed into the hold of the Tottori Maru, a Japanese "hell-ship", and sailed across the China Sea and traveled up the Korean peninsula until he arrived at Hoten POW Camp in Mukden, Manchuria on 11 Nov 1942, where he later died of Amoebic Dysentery and Pneumonia.
