LEIGH - Wilma Hollmann, 91, of Stanton died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Stanton Health Center.

Services will be at St. John's Lutheran Church at Leigh at 10:30 a.m. Monday with burial in the Leigh Cemetery and the Rev. Theresa Meyer officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Stanton.

She was born May 6, 1917, on a farm northeast of Clarkson, the daughter of Adolph and Agnes (Hradec) Jindra. She received her education in a Colfax County rural school near her home.

Wilma married Hellmuth Hollmann on Jan. 25, 1938, at the New Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. The couple farmed all their life by Leigh. The couple was blessed with two sons, Edward and Jerry. Wilma loved being a farm wife, being with her chickens, dogs and cows. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Leigh. In the fall of 1970, they retired to Stanton. Her husband, Hellmuth, passed away in 1972.

Wilma cared for neighborhood children in Stanton for many years. These children were very close and continued to visit here even after they had left Stanton. They include the Mandls, Krauters, Merkels, Arens, Cunninghams and Barrs. She loved to garden and had kept a garden until a few years ago.

Wilma is survived by her son, Edward and Kay Hollmann, Stanton; daughter-in-law Diane Hollmann, Leigh; seven grandchildren, Leroy and Katie Hollmann of Verdigre, Judy and Mike Mauch of Fordyce, Jim and Nicole Hollmann of Leigh, David and Suzie Hollmann of Rogers, Ark., Terry and Heidi Mendlik of Stanton, Rhonda and Brad Gerald of Brunswick, Ga., Yolanda and Tom Clinch of Norfolk.

She also has 15 great-grandchildren. She is survived by sister Norma Karel of Bee, sister-in-laws Marcella Jindra of Howells, Jean Jindra of Clarkson and Alma Jindra of Clarkson.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Hellmuth in 1972; one son, Jerry in 2008; six brothers, Adolph, Emil, Longin, Jimmy, Edward, Edwin; one sister, Tonie Cerny, and her beloved dog, Tiny.

Music will be by pianist Katie Hollmann, accordionist Leroy Hollmann, duet by Leroy and Alex Hollman and congregational singing.

Pallbearers will be Roger Jindra, Leonard Jindra, Leslie Jindra, Arthur Barr III, Nick Jindra, Mike Mauch.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wilma's grandchildren and spouses, Leroy and Katie Hollmann, Judy and Mike Mauch, Jim and Nicole Hollmann, David and Suzie Hollmann, Terry and Heidi Mendlik, Rhonda and Brad Gerald, Yolanda and Tom Clinch.
