She was the daughter of Allen W. Carney and Lula Gibson, she married Charles G. Simpson on Dec. 7, 1947, in McAlester. She worked as a nurses' aid for St. Mary's Hospital. She also had worked at the Army Ammunition Plant. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, canning and going to garage sales. She attended First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her husband, Charles G. Simpson Sr., of the home; son, Dan Simpson, of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandson, Mike Simpson, of Broken Arrow; great-granddaughter, Alexis Simpson, of Broken Arrow; daughter-in-law, Vicki Steidley and husband, John, of McAlester; sister-in-law, Edith Carney, of McAlester, and nephews, Calvin Carney Jr., of Scipio, Victor Lynn Carney, of Muskogee. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles Simpson Jr., and five brothers. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2009 at Chaney's Memorial Chapel with interment in Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery, McAlester, OK.
