Mrs. Duquette Died in Grand Junction

Mrs. Minerva Sayre DUQUETTE, one of the pioneers of Rout county, died at Grand Junction Tuesday evening. She has been living there for two years under the care of her son-in-law Dr. B. L. JEFFERSON. The doctor accompanied the body to Steamboat Springs yesterday. The funeral is being held in the Methodist church at 2 o’clock this afternoon with Rev. Pennell in charge and the body will be laid to rest in the family plot in the Steamboat cemetery by the side of her husband, the late H. DUQUETTE, and her daughter, Mrs. Clorante JEFFERSON.
Mrs. DUQUETTE was born Jan. 15, 1853, in Ross county, Ohio, and therefore was over 86 years of age. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James SAYRE, who moved first to Lynne county, Kansas and came to Colorado in 1883. They settled near Florissant in El Paso county and then came to Routt county where they were amongst the first settlers in the Hayden valley. Minerva SAYRE and H. DUQUETTE were married in Florissant in 1876 and after a few years on the Blue river and in Breckenridge came to Routt county, where for many years Mr. DUQUETTE was one of the most prominent cattleman. He died in 1915.
Immediate surviving relatives are two sisters, Mrs. A. F. S. BERNARD and Mrs. Frank COLEMAN and a niece Mrs. Mildred JAMES.
