Nathan's Obituary - Manawatu Times, 6 June 1928 With the passing of Mr Nathan Gill, who died in the Palmerston North hospital on Sunday, the district of Apiti has lost a very highly esteemed and respected settler. Born in Leeds, England, the late Mr Gill came to New Zealand some fifty years ago, first settling at Sanson where he worked for Mr Bowater. From that district he proceeded to Hamcolbe where he followed the occupation of a baker for a number of years. He there married Miss Lee and thirty year ago proceeded Apiti, where he continued the vocation of a baker, retiring some few years back. Throughout his career at Apiti he was a constant worker for the Wesleyan Church and his kindly influence was manifested in the development of the Sunday school in that district. A quiet unassuming personality the late Mr Gill enjoyed the greatest respect from all sections of the community and will be greatly missed.
Mrs Gill is left with five children to mourn the loss of her husband. The children are: Mesdames Bert Guy (Stanway) and Decke (Marton) and Messrs Len Gill (Marton), Hector Gill (Opaka) and Nathan Gill (Christchurch).
The funeral is to leave the residence of Mr F. S. Guy, Manchester street, Feilding this afternoon for the Feilding cemetery.
