Vincent Russell Ewan, 83, rural Hume, died Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott, Kansas.

Born February 28, 1892 at Monmouth Illinois, the son of Oscar and Myra Russell Ewan, he was a retired farmer.

Mr Ewan was a member of Hume United Methodist Church and charter member of Stotesbury Grange. On January 14, 1917 at Hume, he married Helen Avery Coon, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs Donald (Mary Helen) Epps, Prescott, Kansas; two brothers, Wilbur Ewan, Waterloo, Iowa, and Glenn Ewan, Wathena, Kansas; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2pm Friday at the Underwood United Methodist Church, south of Hume, with the Rev Larry C Seybold officiating.

Music will be provided by Noel and Ophelia Elledge. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Clark, Joe Clark, Joe Sheehy, Charles Johnson, Marvin Hess and Gentry Farrell.

Interment will be in New Lancaster Cemetery, New Lancaster, Kansas, under the direction of Torneden Funeral Home, Hume.
