Juda Ann Walker was born in Tennessee, the daughter of James Walker and Nancy Williams Walker. She married Jacob W. Bettis on December 1, 1843. They moved to western Kentucky and were the parents of five children: Nancy Hearell of Lola; Dorothy Ainsworth and J. Henry Bettis of Irma; John Bettis of Hemlock; and an infant who died shortly after birth. According to grandchild Emma Love, Juda and Jake made their home in Crittenden County for all of their married lives, except for six years that they spent in Florida.

Juda lived a faithful Christian life, professed her religion at age 16, always was a Baptist and was a long-time member of the Deer Creek Baptist Church.

When she died, Juda had been feeble for several years, was almost blind, did not hear very well, but had a wonderful memory, being able to tell stories from her young days to the delight of her family. She was survived by four children, 13 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
