Mrs. J.B. Barr, a pioneer citizen of Wheeler, died in her home here Thursday night, Nov. 21 at 81 years. She had lived here since December 1908.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday Nov. 23, from the Church of Christ with Minister E.M. Borden, Jr. officiating. She was buried beside her husband, who died in May 1947, in the Wheeler cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Kirk Funeral Home.
Thurza [sic] Bell Rose was born in Missouri, Feb. 9, 1876 and was married to James B. Barr in Dodd City, Texas, Feb. 7, 1895. To this union was born three daughters, who survive. They are Mrs. Daisy Bradstreet, Wheeler; Mrs. Nate Hiler, Pearsall, Texas; and Mrs. Belvie Greenhouse, Borger. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Other survivors are one sister, Mrs. Emma Wicker of Blair, Okla. and six brothers: Otis Rose of California, Ira, Robert and Harvey, all of Blair, Okla., John of Rosevelt, Okla., and C.H. of Lockney, Texas.
Her husband, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Serving as pall bearers were: R.G. Russ, Ben Westmoreland, Thomas Daughtry, Evart Goad, Bill Owen and Clayton Kelley.
