BRIDGEWATER – Nellie Bowman Miller, 98, of 210 Broad St. Bridgewater died Wednesday afternoon at her home.

Se was born Jan. 29, 1883 at Johnson City, Tenn., and was a daughter of the late Rev. Daniel and Susan Pence Bowman.

Mrs. Miller had been a member of Bridgewater Church of the Brethren 72 years. She served as deaconess, a teacher in the church school and a leader in the women's fellowship.

On Oct. 27, 1909, she married Minor Miller, who died March 6, 1947.

Surviving are tree sons, Willard Miller of Locust Grove, Horace Miller of Charlottesville and Ray Miller of Ashland; two daughters, Esther Foster of Bridgewater and Arlene Brown of Woodland Hills, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Claude Simmons of Johnson City; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. )

The funeral wll be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Bridgewater Church of the Brethren by Dr. Wayne Judd. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 7:30-9 p.m. today at the McMullen Bridgewater Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that contributions be made to Bridgewater Fire Department, Bridgewater Rescue Squad or Bridgewater Church of the Brethren building fund.
