Deaths.

Deal. - Jefferson Quincy Deal, an early settler of Cowley county, died at his home four miles north of Winfield, Wednesday evening, about seven o'clock, after an illness of several months. He was highly esteemed and a man of upright character and honesty. Mr. Deal was born in North Carolina, March 1, 1850, and was 69 years, 5 months and 27 days old. He came to Kansas about forty years ago and located near Winfield.

He leaves a wife, Mrs. Barbara Deal, and six daughters and four sons, Mrs. Flora Sweeney of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Minnie Binkey, of Winfield, Mrs. Ethel Cales of Ralston, Oklahoma, Mrs. Pearl Binkey of Oxford, Mrs. Mary Elliott of Wichita, Mrs. Beulah Jones of Burden, Floyd C. Roy, W.F. Edgar, and Claude C. Deal of Winfield. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The funeral will be held from the First Methodist church Friday afternoon at four o'clock.
