Irene Anna Marie Janson, age 91, a resident of Pierz, formerly of Buckman, died October 21, 1993 at St. Mary's Villa in Pierz.

Funeral services were held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman with Rev. Kenneth Brenny officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Irene A. Janson was born May 19, 1902 in Little Falls, MN to the late Joseph and Mary (Poster) Janson. After completing her schooling in Buckman, Irene graduated from the Little Falls Business College. She was employed at the Little Falls Extension Office and then the Power & Light Co. in Little Falls before returning to Buckman to care for her parents. She worked for St. Michael's School lunch program for many years. Irene also played the organ and directed the church choir for 30 years. In 1967, Irene received the Bishop's Medal of Merit for her many years of service to St. Michael's Church. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Catholic Aid Association, St. Michael's Society and St. Michael's Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her niece, Mrs. Merlin 'Mary' Strand of Prior Lake, MN and her nephew, John Janson of Elk River, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Otto and Robert Janson.

Pallbearers were John Janson, Andre Sebasky, Merlin Strand, Joseph Simon, Lawrence Poster, James Poster.
