MALINDA FERRIS RITE TO BE HELD FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Funeral rites will be held at the family residence of the late Mrs. Malinda Ferris, Friday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Clarence Homberger of the Dugger Methodist Church officiating.
The deceased has been in her usual good health and the announcement of her death came as a shock to her many friends and neighbors of the community where she has lived for the past several years.
The remains were taken to the M J Aikin and Son Funeral Home and prepared for burial and taken to the family home Wednesday after definite announcement that a grandson S/Sgt Ralph Martin would be able to attend the rites. Sgt Martin left for home Tuesday morning from his station in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mrs Ferris was a member of the Dugger Methodist Church and was active in the affairs of the church when her health permitted. She was about her duties at her home last week when she slipped and fell striking her face and received severe body bruises in the compact. Influenza followed and her death came Monday morning at 4:25.
She was married to Frank Ferris in 1913 who is Cass Township second oldest citizen. She was born in Greene county, July 25th, 1870 and at the time of her passing was 74 years, 5 months and 28 days old. She was a daughter of Andrew and Sarah Fuller Allen, both deceased.
Besides the husband, Frank Ferris she is survived by the following daughters, Mrs. Della Goodman of Dugger, Mrs. Laura Comstock of Eldorado, Illinois, Mrs. Clifford Helton of Terre Haute, Mrs. Orville West of Shelburn and Mrs. Mance Montgomery of Portland, Ore. and three sons, Fred and William Martin of Dugger, and John Ferris of Brazil. Two brothers, Sherman Allen of Worthington and Albert Allen of Riley and a sister, Mrs. May Young of Hazelton survive.
The song service will be in charge of the choir of the Methodist church with a special solo request. The pallbearers were the grandsons, Sgt Ralph Martin, Jesse Ray Martin, Gene Comstock, Charles Morgan, Clifford Helton, and Orval Martin.
The flower bearers were Miss Nina Mae King, Mrs. Morris Goodman, Mrs. Jessie Ray Martin, Miss Gladys Hendricks, Miss Thelma Helton, and Mrs. Charles Morgan. Interment was made in the family plot in the Dugger Cemetery.
