Mary Louise Walker Martin, 75, was born in Elida, N.M. on January 16, 1934 to the home of William H. and Rosalie Aschbacher Walker. She died Monday, March 30, 2009 in Lubbock.

Mrs. Martin and her brother, Harden Lee Walker were raised in the home of their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Howell, in Kenna, N.M. She was married to Herbert Martin on March 28, 1959 in Fort Sumner, N.M.

They lived in Roswell until 1973 when they moved to Lubbock. She was the Broker/Owner of Mary Martin Realtors until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher's, 2807 42nd Street, Lubbock, TX with Father Edson Way officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. M.D.T. from the Fort Sumner Cemetery, Fort Sumner, N.M. with Deacon Mary Gay McClain officiating.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband of 50 years, Herbert K. Martin; son and daughter-in-law, Howell and Peggy Martin of Sweetwater; grandchildren, Michael Martin of Fort Worth, Laura Martin Schlager and husband Justin of Wichita Falls; sister Alma Lyle Bilberry and husband Bud of Kenna, N.M.

She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd (Flea) and Norma Lee Wood of Fort Sumner, N.M., George and Mary Evelyn Martin of Estancia, N.M., Jack Hagerman of Topeka, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harden Walker; a half-brother, Bill Whitead; and sister-in-law, Ernestine Hagerman.
