Isidore H. Christel
Isidore H. Christel, 92, of 620 St. Paul St., Kiel, a retired Kiel businessman, died Sunday morning at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein.
He was associated with his late father in business at Valders and later operated a general store in Brillion.In May, 1933 he founded Christel's Department Store in Kiel, which is now operated by several members of his family.
Born on July 8, 1883 in the Town of Schleswig, he was a son of the late William F. and Wilhelmina Lulloff Christel. He attended the district school and Manitowoc Business College.
On Oct. 11, 1904 he married Ida Terger at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz.Mrs. Christel died Dec. 16, 1967.
He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel,and its Holy Name Society and the Kiel Area Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors are two daughters,Mrs. Robert (Erna) Biederwolf, Brillion, and Mrs. Norman (Edna) Orth; seven sons, Roamn, R. 3, Chilton, Arnold, New Holstein, Lawrence, Eugene, Raymond and James, all of Kiel, and John, LaCrosse; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edgar Ryan and Mrs. Louise Kletzien, both of Manitowoc, and three brothers, William, Minneapolis, Louis, Wisconsin Rapids, and Arthur, Manitowoc.Three sons and a grandson preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at
SS. Peter and Paul Church, the Rev. Francis Kerscher,pastor,celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
