EAST LIVERPOOL - Leland David Hunley, 67, of East Liverpool died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at Allegheny General Hospital following a sudden illness.

He was born in Oakland, Calif., on Feb. 21, 1942, a son of the late Casper and Grace Hunley.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War stationed in Hawaii, he was retired from International Mill Service, where he was a heavy equipment operator for 27 years.

An active member of the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group, American Legion Post No. 374 and the Chester VFW, he also was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Wellsville Lodge No. 180, Elks Lodge No. 258, the Moose Lodge and the Potters Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra J. Hunley, whom he married April 25, 1970.

Surviving are a daughter, Kelly Sue Bryarley, and her husband, Ron, of East Liverpool; a son, Andrew Hugh Hunley of East Liverpool; and his mother-in-law, Tiny Milano of East Liverpool.

There are three grandchildren, Zachary Andrew Robinson-Hunley, Levi Ron Bryarley and Landon John Bryarley.

Also preceding him in death was a son, David Paul Hunley, who died Dec. 19, 1974, a sister Kay Donaldson, and three brothers, Ermal, Joe and Archie Hunley.

Surviving is one sister, Barbara Avergerinos, and three brothers, Neal Hunley, Jerry Hunley and his wife Bev, and Larry Hunley and his wife Jenny, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are to be conducted by the Rev. Charles Taylor of Friendship Gospel Tabernacle Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home, where friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Masonic Service is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday.

Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. The Tri-State Veterans Burial group along with the W.Va. Honor Guard will provide full military honors.
