Wapello Republican, Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa, October 6, 1898:

"Died: At her home in this city on Thursday, September 29, Mrs. G. W. Higgs. The deceased was born in Green Brier county, West Virginia, on July 11, 1812, and moved to Wapello about fifteen years ago. Three children survive to mourn their loss. Mrs. Steel, of Cedar Rapids, A. H. Gabbert, of New London, Iowa, and a Mr. Gabbert of Oklahoma Territory. The funeral was conducted by Dr. Younkin in the Methodist church, Friday, September 30th. Interment was in Wapello cemetary [sic]."
