Lafayette, Ind., Dec. 7-After being missing since Friday, Edward J. Fitzgerald, 35 years old, was found dead yesterday in a box car on the Monon Railroad two miles south of the city. He had taken carbolic acid. A note to his sisters and brothers was found in his vest pocket. It contained the information that he wrote the note while standing against the box car in which he intended to end his life; said that his nerve was as good as "it used to be," and that he realized what he was about to do. He wrote:

"I have tasted the acid and will soon go through thirty or forty minutes of horror. May the Lord God receive my soul above."

He closed the message by asking that his relatives that care of his son. Fitzgerald was a telegrapher. His health had been impaired for several months ans he had been out of employment. His wife and son live in St. Louis.
