Ruby McKinley Smith, 80, of Greensboro, GA, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Saint Joseph's East Georgia Hospital in Greensboro, GA. Ruby was born on May 27, 1928 in Greene County to the late Carlos Perks McKinley and Ruby Esther Phelps McKinley. She attended Penfield School and graduated from Greensboro High School in 1945. On October 11, 1946 she married Willie Glenn Smith, Sr. of Madison, GA after he returned home from serving his country. She then took a Florida College Business Course. For forty years she managed Rutledge Sportswear retiring in 1991. For a year she worked with the Greene County Board of Commissioners. She was a member of Beacon Heights Baptist Church of Madison and the VFW Auxiliary. In 1981 she was Morgan County's Business Woman of The Year. She loved her rose garden, growing tomatoes and gardening.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Glenn Smith, Sr. and a son, Floyd Bruce Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra S. Dominy and husband Dink of Greensboro, GA; two sons, Steve Smith and wife Cindy of Madison, GA and Willie Glenn Smith, Jr. of Buford, GA; two sisters, Dorothy Stewart of White Plains, GA and Betty Kelly of Monroe, GA; ten grandchildren, Matt and Leigh Ann Smith of Locust Grove, GA, Mandy and Anthony Stancil of Buford, GA, Shane Dominy of Greensboro, GA, Stephanie and Sandy Martin of Madison, GA, Billie Jo and Tim Arnold of Madison, GA, Lance and Kerry Smith of Madison, GA, Jed Smith of Madison, GA and Lee Smith of Mitchell, GA, Crystal and Alex Sides of Eatonton, GA, Shelly and Bud Brown of Sandersville, GA; 19 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
