He was a realtor by profession. He was a co-owner of B. M. Grant-A. S. Adams Company in the real estate market. He was president of the Atlanta Real Estate Board and also served as vice-president and president of the Georgia State Board. He was a director of the National Real Estate Board. He served as both international vice-president and international President of Rotary International. He belonged to the order of Free and Accepted Masons, in which he was affiliated with the Knights Templar and with the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. Many of his happiest hours were those that he devoted to the Boy Scouts, an organization in which he took an intense interest and which he was ever ready to serve to the full of his great ability. He served as president of the Boy Scout Council for years, and it is in his memory that a new camp was named.
