Bernice Harris Sims, 71, of Oberlin, entered eternal life on Thursday, March 26, 2009.
She was born June 27, 1937 in Sandersville, GA, daughter of the late William McKinley Harris and Lillie Bell Harris.
Formerly employed by Dr. Samuel T. Clayton, Jr., and the late Dr. I. O. Silver, her passions were gardening and interior decorating.
The widow of James Arthur Sims, she was also predeceased by 6 sisters, Lola Cato, Ola Pinkston, Evelyn Armstrong, Lillieree Mathis, Mavis Slade and Ora Kate Bowers; 3 brothers, William Harris, Jr., McCoy Harris and John Harris, Sr.
Her loving legacy will be cherished by daughter, Rhoda Sims of Steelton; 3 sisters, Mary Harris-Slade of Steelton, Martha Harris and Marguerite Harris, both of Harrisburg; 4 grandchildren, James "Alex" Rich, Tre` Rich, both of Steelton, Lauren Hughes and Simone Hughes, both of Clinton, MD; 4 brothers-in-law, Donald Bowers, Sr., Willie Slade, Sr., both of Steelton, Louis Sims of Washington, D.C., and Howard Slade of Landover, MD; stepsons, Leroy Hughes of Clinton, MD, and James Chatman of Harrisburg; mother-in-law, Alice Sims of Oberlin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her life will be celebrated at Noon, Tuesday, March 31st, at Wallace Funeral Directors, with viewing from 11 a.m. until Noon. Interment will be in William Howard Day Cemetery.
