John C. Cope, aged 79, died Monday morning at his home on East main street.
Mr. Cope was born in Fayette County, Penn., March 5, 1842. He enlisted in the Civil war in 1861 and served more than four years. After the war he came to Olney and for many years owned a large farm east of the city.
His first wife, Ursula (Treadway) Webster Cope died 25 years ago.
His second marriage was to Mrs. Howard Piper, who survives him.
