Maigne enlisted in the U.S. Calvary and was a captain in the Boxer uprising in the Spanish American war. Later he was a reporter on the New York "Herald" and in 1918 joined Famous Players scenerio staff at Long Island. Capt. Maigne went to Hollywood in 1923 and worked as a writer and director on motion pictures. Married to actress Ann Cornwall, Maigne died in the Army Hospital at the Presidio after a breakdown and a year of failing health, ending in pneumonia.
