William Clarence ''Bill'' Ripley, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, died of respiratory arrest at his home surrounded by family on February 25, 1990.


Born March 6, 1903 in Malad City, Idaho to Alonzo and Annie Evans Ripley.


Attended schools in Malad and went to Los Angeles, California at age 14, to live with his Aunt Effie and Uncle Will Smith. Learned to be a carpenter with his uncle. Married Ruth E. Thomas in Salt Lake City on August 29, 1934; solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 19, 1956.


Was a finish carpenter, a mastercraftsman. Worked on the Primary Children's Hospital, many of the buildings in the Salt Lake Valley, renovation of the Salt Lake Temple and Tabernacle. Avid fisherman and deer hunter. He loved the mountains. Liked to camp and hike. He was a sports fan extraordinaire, kept up with all college and professional teams.


Survived by wife, Magna; children, Garth and Carrolyn Ripley, West Valley City; Claren Gay and Ron Pendleton, North Ogden; brother and sister, Grant L. Ripley, Ogden; Mary Virginia Ripley, Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Sundee Gay Ripley, Chante' and Ned Siegfried, Julee and Eddie Iorg, Rip and Kelli Ripley, Matt Ripley, Jared S. Pendleton and Peggy Lee Pendleton; great-grandchildren; Chase and Blakelee Iorg, Alexandria and Meggie Siegfried, numerous nieces and nephews; preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a grandchild.


Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Magna Stake Center, 3084 South 8400 West. Friends may call at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the Church one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
