Lavonne Charlotte (Alday) Sinkler, 83, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, KS.
Services for Lavonne will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham, IL.
She was born on October 18, 1925 to Agnes and Charles Alday of Shelbyville, IL.
She married Gene E. Sinkler in October of 1943 and they were the parents of three children.
Lavonne is survived by her children: Gene (Vicki) of Olathe, KS.; Sherri of Greer, SC.; and Steve (Joanie) of Elwood, IL.; five grandchildren: Gina ( Jack ) Tolman of Hubert, NC.; John (Amy ) of Lexington, KY.; Daron (Tammie ) Sinkler of Olathe, KS.; Justin (Lisa) of Lenexa, KS.; and Jill (Ryan) Wineinger of Lenexa, KS. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Blake, Austen, Olivia, Wyatt and Samantha Sinkler, Riley and Jack Wineinger and Kelly and Kara Tolman.
Also surviving are two sisters: Kathryn Phegley and Marjorie Strohl, both of Shelbyville, IL., as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her parents; and brother, Leroy Alday.
Lavonne was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Effingham. She recently resided in Lawrence, KS., near her family.
