William H. Moss, Pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the Mountain View cemetery. Born in Warren county October 29, 1855, he was a son of James Newby and Rebecca Marler Newby. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. S.M. Ford; a stepson Claude Earl; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Queen Bates; two brothers, Henderson Newby and Lowery Newby; a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Wheeler; and two granddaughters, Mrs. Hattie Lewis and Mrs. Mazell Parker.
