Janet Bamford was a wonderfully loving and nuturing mother and grandmother. And as she loved to say, she was "a stubborn kraut!"

She was born in East Orange, NJ on Feb 26th, 1928. Her parents were William D. Boye (1890-1987) and Augusta Kruse (? -1932). She also had one brother, Willam Russell "Red" Boye (1923-1983). After her mother passed away in 1932, her father married Inez Lefeure Kreger (1906-2000) on June 19th, 1935. Her parents were happily married for 52 wonderful years!

Janet married Robert A Bamford (1927-1998) on October 3rd, 1959. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1980. She had two children from her marriage. Susan was born on July 27th 1960 and William was born on August 19th 1962. Her children blessed her with two grandsons. Dominic Bamford born on July 18th, 1986 and J.D. Reinbott born on September 4th, 1996.

After graduating from East Orange High School in 1946, Janet went on to work in the secretarial field including working for Ingersol Rand in NYC, the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Andover, NJ, the Sparta Water Co in Sparta, NJ, and the law firm of Frank Pfifer in West Orange, NJ. She retired as an executive secretary at AT&T in Parsippany, NJ in May of 1993.

Janet grew up in East Orange, NJ, moving to Chatham, NJ with her parents while in her early 20s. After marrying Robert Bamford in 1959, they resided for a short time in Morristown, NJ before moving to Sparta NJ in 1960. After her divorce in 1980, she moved to Newton, NJ in 1984 where she resided till her passing.

One of Janet's many talents was her passion for gardening. Visitors to her homes in Sparta & Newton were always impressed with her flower beds. In Newton, most of her backyard was made up of a beautiful rock garden, every flower, plant and rock planted by her own hard labor.

Another of Janet's wonderful talents was her singing. She had a beautiful soprano voice that used to turn heads. She sang in many a church group and vocal group throughout the years.

In addition to hobbies like singing and gardening, she was also an avid doll collector. Along with dolls from her childhood, from her European trips, and many a collection like her Shirly Temple dolls, she had almost two rooms filled with her favorite dolls.

In addition to her hobbies, she was an Avon sales rep for 25 years. She was also her Sparta Bowling league's treasurer and secretary for nearly 3 decades. In her later years she was very active in both the Andover and Newton senior citizens, planning many of their senior trips and serving as their president for a term.

Though we could never begin to write down enough information to tell you everything there is to know about our wonderful Mom, hopefully what we have written will give you some insite into the kind of woman she was.

We love you Mom and miss you so much.

Your loving children, Sue and Bill

Family tributes:

Dearest Freinds and Family,

It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I must tell you of my Mom's passing this morning a 1:12 AM. The last two years had seen a slow decline in her health, but being the "stubborn kraut" that she was she fought the good fight to stick around as long as she could. She always bragged that she would live to be 102. And though she wasn't able to achieve her goal (she was just shy of turning 81 this month), my sister and I feel extremely blessed for all the wonderful years we had her in our lives. Neither of us would be where we are or who we are today without her wonderful nuturing soul. We will miss her loving arms, her contagious laugh and beaming smile, her facial expressions and smirks, that brilliant sarcastic wit, and of course her extreme stubborness that helped her make it through whatever life threw her way. She always was and continues to be an inspiration to Sue and I, my wife Colleen, and her grandchildren Dominic and J.D.

Mothers are truly God's greatest creation. And from the day my sister was born till my Mom's last breath, she proved to be a shining example of his gift to us every single day. But now my Grandmother and Grandfather have finally come to take her home. And though it breaks my heart, I am glad she is finally at peace.

Thank you Mom for all you gave us. You will live on in our hearts and souls forever and always.

Bye for now Mom - your loving son Billy

Dear Mom,

I love you and can't believe you are gone. It has only been a few days, but I miss you so very much. I had more to say to you before you left so I am writing this letter for you to take on your journey. I am still not sure what to believe, but thinking that you are with Grandpa makes me feel better. I hope that you are able to use your eyes and legs again so you can see us and follow us where ever we go. I want you to be able to watch J.D. grow up into an amazing young man and guide him to his dreams. You made me the mother I am today and I am extremely proud to be your daughter. You made a lot of sacrifices and I want you to know how much I appreciate it. I am independent, strong, stubborn and successful because of you and I hope to pass that along to J.D. I believe that Grandpa sent that bright red cardinal to your window on Saturday to let us know that he was coming to take you to a better place. I also believe that you used all the strength you had left to reach out to touch me for the last time to let me know that it was Ok for me to let go too.

Good bye mother - your loving daughter Sue

Dear Grandma,

I can't believe that you are gone. I loved you with all my heart and you were always good to me. I'm really going to miss you. We had some good times and I bet Dillon will miss stealing your cheese in "Mousetrap". You took care of me, went fishing with the net and bread, watched me on my big wheel, swam with me, laughed all the time, let me help you garden, take me out for dinner when I did good in school, loved to listen to me play trumpet, eat pizza bites, and always talk about how much you loved my Halloween costumes. All of my friends liked to be around you and had fun when ever you came to one of my birthday parties. We has such a great time on the Disney Cruise especially when you and me held the turtles. You were the best Grandma anyone could ask for. You saw me grow up and enjoyed it the whole time. All I know is that you are in a better place now. Just like mom said I believe that Great Grandpa sent the bright red cardinal to your window on that Saturday because he knew that you were ready. One day you, me and mom will all be reuinted in heaven with all of my friends and the rest of our family. Goodbye.

Love always, J.D.

"Come To Me"

God saw you getting tired,
and a cure was not to be;
so He put His arms around you,
and whispered, "Come to Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you,
and saw you slip away;
and although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
