Maria Stepens, 89, a former resident of LaFontaine, who died at 8 o'clock Wednesday morning in the home of her son, Pearl M. Stephens, 1040 Van Buren street, South Bend, will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Brenneman Funeral home, LaFontaine. The Rev. William Walters will officiate and burial will be in the LaFontaine IOOF cemetery. She had been ill two weeks.
Mrs. Stephens was born in Wabash county October 29, 1863 to Isaac and Caroline (Minear) Botkin and most of her life was spent in LaFontaine. She moved to South Bend six years ago. She was a member of the LaFontaine Christian church.
Survivors include the son, 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
The body will remain at the funeral home until time for the services.
