CHARLES WILLIAM OGLINE, Age 73, son of Orion Harrison Sr & Elizabeth JoAnna PETERSON-OGLINE. Grandson of Solomon Orion & Laura C. SAYLOR-OGLINE. Son-in-Law of Jesse James & Leora BURKOLDER-BEAL all from Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

CHARLES married the former Clara Marie BEAL d/o Jesse James & Leora BURKHOLDER-BEAL, the couple WERE BLESSED WITH four (4) CHILDREN as their legacy:

+ Inez E. Ogline b. 1941
+ Ronald William Ogline b. 1943
+ Jack Frederick Ogline b. 1945
+ Dwayne(DUKE)A. Ogline b. 1950

WWII Marine Corp veteran.

William was a coal miner by occupation employed by the Saxman Coal & Coke Corp working in Mine #1 (Harrison Mine) where quecreek min is now operating. As a switch operator, Charles controlled the switching of the tipples and elevators. It was two years after his cousin Beatrice NICKLOW's boy friend and brotherin-law Francis James BEAL died from injuries sustained in a cave-in that Charles piled his wife and four children into a small camper to drive south to Florida determined to begin a new life with his family never to go into the mines again. The trauma of pulling Francis out of mine, rushing him to the hospital helpless to comfort him with pain and with subsequent death after the accident, Charles did get out of mines.

This story was conveyed to this biographer by Charles Williams Ogline's widow Clara Marie BEAL-OGLINE during conversation July 10, 2010.

Another family story is that Charles' father Orion OGLINE named his son Charles OGLINE in honor of his uncle Charles OGLINE just as Orion's father Solomon OGLINE was named after his uncle Solomon OGLINE by his father George OGLINE.

Charles William OGLINE served proudly as U.S. Marine Corp during WW2 and became good friends with Gilbert OGLINE, the son of his uncle Charles OGLINE who also served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corp during WW2.

Biographed by the grandson of Charles Jackson OGLINE (Email tnt1505@cox.net), the uncle of Charles William OGLINE. All inquiries, additional and photos of any kind which can enhance this memorial are welcome via email.
