US Army Brigadier General. He graduated from West Point in 1890 and was commissioned in the Artillery. He served with the 5th Artillery during the Spanish-American War, and during the Philippine Insurrection commanded a battery as part of the Moro Expedition. He also served on the Mexican border during the Pancho Villa Expedition. During World War I he commanded 55th Artillery Brigade, 30th Division and 67th Artillery Brigade, 42nd Division, participating in all the major offensives. After the war he graduated from the Army War College and commanded from the 8th Artillery Brigade until retiring in 1931.
