Mrs. Louise Everett Smith, age 97, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Sumter Retirement Village in Plains.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, at Plains United Methodist Church, with Bro. Lee Smith and Pastor R.T. Beverly officiating. Due to weather conditions, a committal service will be held in the church, with a private interment to follow.

The family will receive visitors in the Fellowship Hall at Plains United Methodist Church following the funeral service, and at other times at the home of Janet and Johnny Porch.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Plains United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 219, Plains, GA 31780.

Mrs. Smith was born August 9, 1920 in Webster County, a daughter of James William Everett and Bertha Mae Witt Everett. She was a retired beautician, and an active member of Plains United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Charles W. Smith, Sr.; one sister, Susie Mae Stephens; and five brothers: William Lawrence Everett, James T. Everett "JT", Edward C. Everett "Eck", Clarence C. Everett "Coley", and Oliver C. Everett "Ott".

She is survived by one son, Charles W. Smith, Jr. (Penny) of Plains; two daughters: Charla S. Williams (Ken) of Braselton, GA and Janet Porch (Johnny) of Plains; four grandsons: Charles W. Smith, III (Tracy), Jason Mitchell (Holly), Branden Smith (Hollis), and Justin Smith (Emily); five great-grandchildren: Chase Smith, Hannah Mitchell, Riley Mitchell, Olivia Smith, and Davis Smith.
