Aged 71 y 10 m 8 d. William, for many years until recently a resident of Petersburg, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Cook at Springfield.
The deceased was born in Evansville, Indiana and came to Menard County when a mere child. He married Mary Stott, who survived him, together with five children, Mrs. Fred Cook, Mrs. Sewell, and Mrs. Whitley of Springfield and Mrs. Frank
Wiseman and Fred Hughes of Petersburg; also, one brother, Perry Hughes of Springfield, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Spice of Strood, OK, and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Petersburg. Rev. L.E. Riley officiating.
