Aurelia R. Fangman, 84, of Seneca, KS, died January 31, 1999, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, Seneca, KS. She had been a patient since December 9, 1998, when she suffered an apparent stroke at her home in Seneca.

She was born July 27, 1914, on a farm near St. Benedict, KS, the daughter of William E. and Anna Mohrman Lackey. She attended St. Mary's School at St. Benedict.

She lived in Kansas City, KS, for five years where she did domestic work. she returned to the St. Benedict area in 1936.

On March 30, 1937, she married George H. Fangman at St. Benedict. His wife had died and left him with six sons and a daughter, whom Aurelia treated as if they were her own. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 1977. George died August 7, 1980.

She lived and farmed with her family south of St. Benedict until 1972, when they retired and moved to Seneca. She was interested in agriculture, raised chickens, and helped her son with the dairy.

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, the Prayer Chain, and Perpetural Adoration, all at the church in Seneca. She was also a member of teh Loyal Christian Benevolent Association at Seneca, and the Benedictine Oblates in Atchison, KS. She was a former member of St. Mary's Church, St. Benedict, KS.

She is survived by sons, Fr. Wilfred Fangman, OSB, Kansas City, KS; Mark Fangman, Seneca, KS; Eugene Fangman, Seneca, KS; Richard Fangman, Silver Lake, KS; Wilbert Fangman, Newton, KS; daughters, Grace Kohake, Seneca, KS; Therese Beaty, Kansas City, KS; sisters, Rosemary Woolsey, Bolivar, MO; Rita Heinen, Huron, KS; Eileen McQueen, Kansas City, MO; Leona Schmelzle, Seneca, KS; 38 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, James Fangman; Thomas Fangman; Leo Fangman; three grandchildren, Joseph Fangman; James Kohake; Donna Lee Rettele; great-grandchild, Gregory Fangman; brother, Vincent Lackey; sisters, Anna Boeckersette, Bertha Trudell, Wilhelmina Koch, and Frances Lackey.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Seneca, KS, offered by her son, Fr. Wilfred. Burial was in the St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Benedict, KS.
