John Frederick Krenske was born January 9, 1842 in Langenhagen, Germany, and died March 7, 1913 in Rice County, Minnesota.

He married Wilhelmina Louise Hohenhaus in 1870 in Manitowac, Wisconsin. Wilhelmina was the daughter of August & Dorothy (Lutzke) Hohenhaus. She was born September 1, 1849 in Sadelburg, Germany, and died April 26, 1918 in Rice County, Minnesota.

John & Wilhelmina had twelve children, but we know the names of only eight of them: Frederick, Anna, Minnie, Emma, Ida, William, Lydia, and Edward.

OBITUARY:

Rice County Journal, March 12, 1913:

"MR. JOHN FREDERICK KRENSKE WAS BORN IN LANGENHAGEN, GERMANY, JAN. 9, 1842, AND DIED AT HIS HOME IN WELLS FRIDAY, MARCH 7. THE DECEASED CAME TO AMERICA IN 1869, RESIDING AT MANITOWAC, WIS., FOR A SHORT TIME. HE WAS MARRIED TO MISS WHILHEMINE HOHENHAUS IN 1870, WHICH UNION WAS BLESSED WITH 12 CHILDREN, OF WHICH FIVE PRECEDED THE FATHER IN DEATH. MR. KRENSKE HAS BEEN A RESIDENT OF RICE COUNTY SINCE 1870, LOCATING ON A FARM NEAR ROBERDS LAKE. HE WAS A HIGHLY RESPECTED MEMBER OF THE GERMAN METHODIST CHURCH AT WELLS. DURING THE LAST FEW YEARS HE WAS AFFLICTED WITH SOFTENING OF THE BRAIN, WHICH GRADUALLY EFFECTED HIS MENTAL FACULTIES AND FINALLY RESULTED IN THE CAUSE OF HIS DEATH. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS BELOVED WIFE, TWO SONS FRED K. OF FARIBAULT, WILLIAM K. OF WELLS, FIVE DAUGHTERS, MRS. GOTTLIEB KORMANN OF REDWOOD FALLS, MRS. F. VOGE OF MORRISTOWN, MRS. AUGUST DIENST AND MRS. FRED VOGE OF WELLS, MRS. WILLIAM KALIEN OF FARIBAULT, A HALF BROTHER, MR. FRED SALZWEDEL, SR., OF WELLS, 23 GRANDCHILDREN AND TWO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. THE FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED BY THE PASTOR, REV. F. E. MEIERBACHTOL AT THE WELLS M. E. CHURCH MONDAY AFTERNOON. INTERMENT WAS IN THE VAULT OF MAPLE LAWN CEMETERY."
