Major League Baseball Player. A native of Kokomo, Indiana, "Rowdy" Elliott began playing professional baseball in 1907. In 1910 he debuted in the major leagues playing for the Boston Doves, but only appeared in three games. In 1915 he joined the Oakland Oaks and served as team manager until 1916, when he returned to the majors as a catcher for the Chicago Cubs for three seasons. In 1918 he left the sport to volunteer for military service during World War One as a Fireman 3rd Class with the United States Navy for one year. Following his discharge, he returned to the minor leagues where he spent the rest of his career, with exception to a brief stint with the Brooklyn Robins in 1920. Elliott died at the age of forty-three after falling from his apartment window in San Francisco. In his five-season major league career, he appeared in a total of 157 games with a .241 batting average.
