Mr. Grimes was postmaster in Wallace for 35 years. He had owned the Webster Grocery Store until 1935 when he then ran the Webster Grocery Store.
He was a member of the Wallace Christian Church, Wallace Masonic Lodge 495 and Wallace Low 12 Club. He was a graduate of Wallace High.
The son of Albert Bruce and Elvaba Philpott Grimes, he was born October 19, 1902, near Wallace. On June 4, 1922, in Veedersburg, he married Jewell Pyle, who survives.
Other survivors include a son, James W. Jr. of Portage; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Larsh of Indianapolis and Mrs. Russell (Joanne) Goodings of Wallace; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home, with burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
