The last known recording of graves in the Parmenter Cemetery was by Clarabelle & Emil Mares in 1978. The Shields' were listed as: "homemade stones - John Shields & Milvill Shields - no dates". Thanks to work by Beverly Davis Valcovic (Member 39254180) it was determined this was John and his second wife Abigail O. Melville Rounds Shields.
