Murray Michael McINERNAY b. Dec. 18, 1850 Brooklyn, NY d. Sept. 7, 1928, Douglas, AZ. Son of John McINERNEY b. Ireland of Scotch-Irish descent. Murray enlistment in Company I, 54th Infantry Regiment New York, at the age of 14, as a drummer boy and fought in the Civil war, he carried a musket with the courage and assurance of the older soldiers, participating in the battle of Charleston, W.V. and serving until the close of the war. Had also fought with Company E 14th Regiment, New York Volunteer Infantry. He was mustered out at David Island, N. Y., April 14, 1866. And was a Corporal. He arrived in AZ in 1868, he was a Indian Trader and eventually did that work for the C.P. HEAD CO. He was also a partner in a freighting company with John HANCE and J. B. RICKETTS in Verde Valley He became Deputy Sheriff and then the Arizona Territorial Prison Superintendent at Yuma, AZ.. He then became the proprietor of the Prescott Hotel in Prescott, AZ and his wife eventually ran the restaurant. He went on to become a Building Contractor and hotel proprietor in Cochise

They had two children Alice and Bessie.
NOTE: During his tenure at the Yuma Prison, two of his brother in laws worked for him as guards and his wife was the Librarian of the Prison. At the end of his tenure he was brought up on apparently false charges, as he was acquitted in the case. Another Brother in law was a wealthy miner in AZ involved with several mines including the Congress Mine and another was the Mayor of Prescott, AZ.

A sister in Law was Elizabeth BARGEMANN HESSER THORNE ALBERTSON of the Bar circle A ranch.Of Tom MIX fame.
Also buried same cemetery plot F-140-4 McInernay John C. d. 8/11/12 Unknown relation, might be brother or father?
