"George served in Co F 55th Rgmt NC Inf, enlisting 29 March 1862. He was wounded in the jaw and cheek at Wilderness, Va on 5 May 1864. He returned to duty but was captured at Sutherland's Station, Va on 2 April 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Md on 5 April 1865. He was released 23 June 1865."
