Pauline Virginia McElhiney, of York, passed away peacefully March 26, 2009. She was 95.
She was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School, and attended nursing school during the 1930's. A member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church since 1943, she spent more than 50 years in service to others and the church.
In keeping with her generous spirit and humble thoughtfulness, in place of a written list of all her positions and memberships, donations will be made in her memory to some of her favorite charities.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William R. "Bill" McElhiney, with whom she spent almost 56 years of marriage and also co-owned The Ness Company, Inc. Pauline is survived by two children, William "Scott" McElhiney, and his wife, Suzanne M. (Savard) McElhiney of Seven Valleys, and Kathleen I. "Kim" Wozniak, and her husband, Thomas C. Wozniak of York; four grandchildren, Samantha McElhiney, Josh McElhiney, Megan Wozniak Irmisch, and Sara Wozniak; and two greatgrandchildren.
The eighth and youngest child of the late J. Lewis and Josephine (Reeser) Ness, she was also preceded in death five brothers, W. Reeser Ness, the Rev. Murray E. Ness, Earl Ness, J. Lewis Ness, Jr., and Henry C. Ness; and two sisters, Mary (Ness) Boeckel, and Eleanor (Ness) Goodling.
