I'm perplexed. As far as I can tell, neither of her purported parents set foot outside central Maine. I'm wondering if her records got confused with the records for Almira Thayer (Almira, born March 6, 1821, died Sept. 23, 1891; married Aug. 6, 1848, Sherman Hale, who died Jan. 10, 1886; they had one child, Mary E.), a daughter of Stephen Thayer MD and Sophia Carleton.
