Our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend left us to live with her Heavenly Father on March 21, 2009 at her home due to complications from her short battle with lung cancer.

Suzanne Sumsion Andrews was born May 18, 1934 to her loving parents, Ernest Elvin and Edna Belle Sumsion, in Springville, Utah.

The 10th of 11 children, she learned early of the importance of hard work, determination, and family togetherness while overcoming the economic and physical challenges of the Great Depression and World War II. An avid reader and lover of history, Suzanne graduated from Springville H.S. and sought a degree from Utah State University.

While there she met the love of her life, Dean Carlton Andrews, who was attracted to her vivacious personality and zest for living. They were sealed for time and all eternity on September 22, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.

A devoted wife and mother of six children, she supported her husband as an Air Force Lieutenant and while he obtained his two bachelors degrees and MBA.

Always firm in the LDS faith, Suzanne loved to serve little children as a primary teacher, doing so for more than three decades. She strove to attend the temple weekly and was a person dedicated to serving those that needed their burdens lifted.

Her countless quilts, handcrafted for family members and the needy, are a tribute to her giving heart. A true patriot, she was proud of our beautiful nation and traveled to nearly all 50 states.

Suzanne is also remembered fondly for her love of camping, family vacations, being an enthusiastic soccer mom/grandma, an ardent sports fan, and a devoted neighbor. Above all, she loved, supported, and found the greatest joy from the success and happiness of her family. She will be sorely missed.

Suzanne leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Dean; her children, Jeffrey (Pat), Nina Shurtliff (Kevan), Greg (Colleen), Lynn Napier (Chris), Vonda, and Shane (Elisa); one sister, Elsie Peery; two brothers, Russell and Keith Sumsion; 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and two brothers.

Her Funeral Services will be held in the Sandy Utah Hillcrest Third Ward Chapel at 1200 East 8600 South in Sandy, Utah on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 11 a.m., with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m.
Interment will follow at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
A viewing in her honor will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary at 8090 South State Street.
