Larry Lynn (Pokey) Westfall was born on December 22, 1962 in Marengo, IA, the son of Larry K. and Patricia Smothers Westfall. He attended English Valleys High School. Larry worked at Stohman's Inc. in North English when he was younger then ran his own businesses, P & P Roofing and later Pokey's Construction. He also worked for Gary Harding Construction and Kinze's. He has lived in the North English area throughout his lifetime. He was a member of the Home Brew Band, Millersburg Volunteer Fire Department and very active in the Millersburg Ball Club. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, smoking meat camping and most of all he loved being with his kids and grandkids; BK, Bub, Tub, Puddles and Popeye. Larry died following a long illness on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Maplewood Manor in Keota, IA. He lived 45 years, 8 months and 4 days. He is survived by his children Bryant Westfall of Amana, Holdon Westfall and Sadie Westfall both of North English; 2 granddaughters Karyssa Westfall and Addysyn Westfall; his father Larry Westfall of Sunrise Beach, MO; 2 sisters Cherrie (Tom) Baird of North English, IA; and Mary Westfall of Marion, IA; a brother Joseph (Shelly) Westfall of Williamsburg, IA; 4 nephews Taylor Baird, Ben Baird, Cody Westfall and Bailey Westfall; also his wife Shelly Westfall. Larry was preceded in death by his mother Patricia A. Westfall.
Pokey was my grandparents neighbor and lived across the field from my home where i grew up. He was a great guy, always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell you. He loved his children more then anything and i will miss him greatly.
