Yancey Carl Rich, died early Sunday in James Walker Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Rich was a retired shipping clerk for one of Wilmington's largest wholesale groceries. He was born in Sampson County Feb. 4, 1872, the son of the late Thomas and Louellen Duncan Rich. He was a charter member of the Temple Baptist Church and was a member of the Board of Deacons of the Church.
Survivors include a son, Leon W. Rich, of Wilmington; two daughters, Mrs. G. C. Gilbert of Wilmington and Mrs. George S. Nevens of Southern Pines; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Andrews Mortuary at 3 p.m. with the Rev. W. J. Stephenson and the Rev. A. L. Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be L. A. Beck, E. C. Beck, Dan Harrelson, Edwin Harrelson, W. Ronald Eakins, and Jack Marshburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. E. T. Marshburn, Jr., and the board of deacons of Temple Baptist Church.
