After turning professional, he won both the Mexican and North American Bantamweight Titles. He retired from boxing in 1962, after compiling a record of 41 wins (25 knockouts) and 2 losses in 43 bouts. Macias became an actor and appeared on numerous television programs in Mexico. He died from cancer.
